Resilia Flexible Interlocking Tiles

Rubber-like Resilia Flexible PVC interlocking tiles.

Vinyl tiles are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), inks and dyes that give them color and designs, and polyurethane coat to protect them. PVC, in turn, is made out of a mix of ethylene, chloride, and other compounds. When special plasticizers are added to the mix, the result is that the tiles assume rubber-like characteristics. This is precisely what is done with the Resilia Flexible Interlocking Tiles.

The Resilia is 20% softer than most other vinyl tiles, which makes them more comfortable to walk and stand on even for extended periods, such as when preparing dinner in the kitchen. It compresses when walked on and absorbs the sounds of footsteps. However, owing to its resiliency, it quickly recovers its original shape.

Resistant to most chemicals, the tiles are ideal for use in the kitchen where there is always the possibility oil, spices, or wine spilling on the floor. They are also tough and, because of their rubber-like qualities, they will not crack.

The tiles are not only durable. They are also attractive. They come in three different patterns with fine textures –grid, disk, and flat. There are 12 colors you choose from. For a bright kitchen, you can go for red, yellow, beige, light green, aqua, and blue. For a more subdued hue, there is gray, silver, dark green, brown, black, and dark blue.

Installation is a breeze even for non-DIYers. The tiles do not require adhesive, which eliminates the possibility of bonding failures. Instead, they have interlocking edges that lock together simply by pressing them. The joints are concealed from view and, perhaps more important, they resist the entry of liquids.

If your sub-floor is level, you only need to clean it up before installing the Resilia Flexible Interlocking Tiles. You can install over ceramic, concrete, or wood surfaces. They may or may not be painted, and they can even have small cracks.

Since no adhesives are used, you can dismantle the tiles anytime and use them elsewhere.

The tiles measure 12″ x 12″ with a thickness of 0.25″.
